Arena Orbit Live 2015 successfully concludes with groundbreaking learning fest

  • Conferred ‘International Festival of Honour’ title to Annecy Festival (France), Animex Festival (UK), and PISAF      Festival (South Korea)
  • Paid tribute to industry veteran I.S. Mathur and animation expert R.L. Mistry

Mumbai, 15th January, 2015: Arena Animation, a leading animation institute of India, announced the successful conclusion of Orbit Live 2015. Orbit was a four-day talent festival held from 8th to 11th of January, 2015, where students were encouraged to let their creative juices flow and learn while making merry. More than 150 animation industry experts, top 100 animation studios, and more than 300 Arena students attended the event which was held at a 5-star hotel in Mumbai. The event was inaugurated by Anuj Kacker, Executive Director, Aptech Ltd., and witnessed the presence of animation luminaries from across the world.

The event witnessed over 70 practical workshops, master classes and interactive sessions on the art and craft of film editing, principles of animation, digital media campaigns (social media), 3D visualization and simulation, and more. These workshops were conducted by Indian and international industry luminaries. Arena students were mentored by industry experts & practitioners at live workshops & master classes and had the golden opportunity to have close interactions with industry veterans at workshops as well as to get a chance to work on live projects. To add to the celebration of great films, the best animation films from around the world were showcased to the students during breakfast, at special screenings called ‘Breakfast Shorts’.

Mickael Marin, head of the International Animation Film Market of Annecy (MIFA) organized by CITIA said: “I have visited several countries for work. However, India is one of the most incredible countries that I have visited. Orbit Live 2015 is a great learning platform for students who want to make a big name in the creative industry. I am overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and potential of the participants here.”

“At Orbit Live, the students are given a chance to not only understand the specifics of the best animation works but also interact personally with animation experts and learn from their experiences. With the presence of some brilliant people from the industry in this year’s festival, we have taken the festival to another level. Students attend workshops, seminars & master classes conducted by industry experts from national & international studios,” said Anuj Kacker, Executive Director, Aptech Ltd., while delivering the welcome address.

During the festival, participants got the opportunity to personally interact with international festival luminaries such as:

  •  Siobhan Fenton, Animex Festival, Director of Animex International Partnerships, Teesside       University, UK
  •  Penelope Holton, Deputy Section Head (Animation and Visual Effects), Senior Lecturer 3D        Animation, Teesside University, UK
  •  Thierry Dezarmenien, who represented Zeilt Productions from Luxembourg and has the            2014 Oscar winning animation short film ‘Mr. Hublot’ to his credit

The festival ended with a glittering awards night where animation and industry experts, and students whose outstanding work was appreciated by an international jury, were felicitated.
