5 Animated Movie Sequels That We All Wish For

Sequels usually do not get the same amazing response as their original movies do. But is this the case in animated movies too? There are of course a few exceptions like Cars, Finding Nemo & Monsters Inc. The sequels of these movies stood out, just like their original counterparts.

Here are 5 animated sequels that we have high hopes for:

Zootopia 2

Zootopia was a massive success and one of the highest critically acclaimed Disney movie of recent years. So it would be in Disney’s best interests to make a sequel. Additionally, the director of the film Byron Howard said that there’s enough material to make a sequel.

Monsters, Inc. 2

Basing on the critical and financial success of Monsters, Inc. the rumors of an official sequel might just be true. Not to forget, Monsters University which was a prequel to Monsters, Inc. raked in $750 million worldwide. Though it may probably take the same time as Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 took, the more the time goes by, higher is the probability. Fingers crossed till then!

Frozen 2

The film was a massive success at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all times and winning two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, two BAFTAs, and two Grammys. Disney has every reason to release a worthy sequel to this. And given that the first movie was such a hit, it would be hard for Disney to make a sequel to it and that’s a lot of confidence in the sequel with original screenplay.

Minions 2:

Minions are, of course, the yellow, gibberish-speaking helpers who were first introduced in Despicable Me back in 2010. Since the Minions movie was such an epic success, lots of people have been wondering if there will be a sequel.

When the first stand-alone Minions movie came out in 2015, it grossed more than $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office. From that view, it’s pretty obvious that Universal would want to move ahead with a follow-up film.

The Lego Movie 2:

Phill lord and Chris Miller made a hilarious and original movie with Lego that brought the classic toys to life back in 2014. In many ways they paved the way for a franchise that doesn’t have a deep backstory because they proved that with creativity anything can be a great story to tell. After that it launched its own franchise, first with The Lego Batman movie and next with The Lego Ninjago movie which was box-office hits too. And now with such a fan base, it could be time for a sequel to The Lego movie.
