Mumbai, December 2007: Animation industry professionals rubbed shoulders with Arena students, even as they showcased cutting-edge work from their respective studios. While one senior professional displayed work done for overseas clients, others showed glimpses of their work that was about to be released in the market.
What’s more, the experts took the students through the entire process of the creation of these animations. All this and more held the crowd spellbound at ‘Perspectives’, the animation symposium organised by Arena Animation at Ghatkopar in Mumbai in December 2007.
Yunus Bukhari of Artery Animation & FX wowed the audience with an intricately-executed animation that narrated the story of the luxurious life and times of a rich, pretty lady.
Indranil Malik of the reputed Crest Animation took the students through the process of animation and also answered questions about appropriate software as well as about skills required to succeed in the field.
Vaibhav Studios’ founder and animator, Vaibhav Kumaresh, demonstrated the complicated process of creating clay animation. This was the first time the students realised how many months of hard work go into creating just a few minutes’ worth of clay animation. By the end of this session, everyone had gained a fresh new perspective on the profession and some students even said that they were very inspired to work harder at their projects to make sure they landed a great job to enter this dynamic industry.
Says R Krishnan, Executive Director, Aptech Ltd, “Arena Animation has launched a series of seminars - ‘Perspectives: Animation in India (Future & Careers)’. The idea is to create awareness of the unlimited career opportunities in animation and to create a neutral platform for budding animators to interact with industry professionals. We are glad that professionals from the industry have been participating in our seminars and lending their full support to the students.”
Meanwhile, the Ghatkopar seminar was inaugurated by Salil Desai, Operations Head (West and North), Arena Animation. According to Desai, “Perspectives brings together professionals from the animation community to share their knowledge, views and experiences of the industry with our students.”
“The Perspectives series of seminars concluded at Cochin, Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Jaipur, Indore and now Mumbai, have drawn a huge response,” he added.
