At this centre, education is not just confined to standard classroom settings and regular coursework. Here are a few reasons why students chose Arena Animation, Andheri West, for their education:
Aakruti is an annual event organised by Arena Animation centres in Andheri (W) & Vile Parle. The event is a platform for students to showcase their creative talent to the world. During the three-day exhibition, students showcase their work to around 15,000 visitors as well as a jury comprising eminent people from animation & VFX studios. Winners are awarded trophies & certificates during the Awards Night. The exhibition is not only important for students but also for their parents. They get to see their child’s hard work and creativity. The event also includes interactive and educational master classes conducted by industry experts.
The entire event is managed by the students themselves with help from an organising committee. Ad campaigns, 2D & 3D short films, comic strips, VFX & live action clips are showcased to visitors during Aakruti.
Apart from creative activities, students are also involved in outdoor sports - including cricket, running races, relays, shot put, and discus throw. Indoor games and activities include carom, chess, acting, dancing, and singing.
The event is conducted for students of Arena Animation centres in Andheri (W) & Vile Parle. However, entry to the creative competition is open to media students from around the world.
The Andheri centre organises workshops that are conducted by industry experts. Recently, one such workshop was held to demonstrate the methods for creating comics. Amit Ghadge, founder & director, Crimzon Studio, shared his insights on creating comics. He explained the step-by-step process of comic design - from pre-production to post production, from storyboarding to final output.
The centre conducts an outdoor photography workshop every month. Recently, one of the interesting workshops encouraged and guided students in capturing images of flamingoes at the Sewri mudflats.
The centre conducts an outdoor sketching workshop to enhance the quality of output of work created by the students. This faculty-guided activity helps students improve the form and technique of drawing.
The centre publishes its own in-house magazine – Anivoluton. This magazine is designed & developed by the students themselves. The basic objective of this magazine is to make the students aware of the working environment in the publishing industry.
Every month, the centre hosts workshops & master classes conducted by industry experts. Recently, celebrated animation designer Prosenjit Ganguly conducted a training session on storyboards, story writing & background design.
In order to help them get the most out of this experience, students created their own assignments before the workshop.
The centre prepares students for technical & verbal interviews for job placements. Students prepare projects, videos & a demo reel of their work before venturing out for interviews at various studios and companies. As a result of such extensive preparation, students of the Arena Andheri centre have been placed with top companies - including Accenture, Iksula Pvt. Ltd., EBay, Jashn Sarees, and Graphicsite.
Nitin Goda, who is pursuing an animation & VFX course at Arena Animation, Andheri (W), Mumbai, says:

This has helped me gain expertise in design & publishing. Arena has always motivated us to participate in competitions. I won the second prize in Aakruti Festival 2014 for my 3D art film. I thank Arena Animation for all the support & lovely atmosphere.”
